A scribble: Stages
Like most others who have tried to keep a “blog”, I find myself with an itch to write something more than I do, and when I do with more drafts than posts.
With the advent of Claude Code and inspired by Simon Willison I started building more tools.
Given the above I decided to have a go at a Digital Garden.
Every Digital Garden needs some indication of the following for its items:
- How “done” they are
- How much effort you put in
- How much you still identify/agree with it
I conflate all of these into three stages: scribble, draft and tale. The idea being that if I put enough effort in to take it to tale then I probably still agree with it. I can see that changing with time though.
A scribble
A note quickly jotted down on the back of a napkin. Unpolished.
If it’s a tool beware of bugs (and let me know about them!)
A draft
More thought than just the initial idea has gone into it, but I’m still not confident enough to call it done or show it around.
A tale
I’ve put a fair bit of thought and effort into this so it’s a tale I’m happy enough with to tell. But like all good tales, it may evolve over time as it’s told and re-told.
