A tale: Air Fryer

Today my wife turned on the Air Fryer with nothing in it. It didn’t reject that as invalid input. It didn’t throw an error. It turned on, as normal.
Our unit doesn’t have a pre-heat setting, so I assumed it was impossible and made mediocre hash browns. But an Air Fryer is a simple tool, it turns on a heated coil that can be used in a variety of ways. Including pre-heating.
I should remember that for other tools more often, and imagine software that works that way too.
